ENGRAVED AND GOLD INLAID BY A. DIERCKX WITH CASE. Cal. 12 Ga. S# 24853S70. Bbls. 28' marked for'modified" & "full" are fitted w/ narrow matted ventilated rib with ivory beads. All correct St. Louis & Montreal markings are on top barrel & breech areas are engraved w/ well cut open shaded scroll. Blued Superposed action w/ gold plated single selective trigger is engraved w/ near full coverage very well cut large open shaded scrolling acanthus surrounding scenes of game birds w/in looped gold inlaid borders as designed by Louis Vrancken.; a trio of pheasant fly into clearing on left side, and a trio of mallards take wing over swamp on right. A quail flies across bottom of action. Both the engraving and very nicely shaded & detailed gold work are by Andre Dierckx, whose signature appears at bottom rear on both sides of action. Short tang, square knob buttstock of superbly figured & lightly marbled Claro walnut measures 14 1/4" over composition Browning buttplate. Semi fancy pattern checkering with flourishes into butt wraps over top of grip & a gold oval on toeline is engraved "F O V". Field forend matches well. Chokes are unaltered. DAH: 2 1/2". DAC: 1 1/2". WEIGHT: 7 lbs. 9 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Gun is housed in tan Hartmann case lined in faux fur, containing two keys. CONDITION: very fine, w/ evidence of light wear & minimal firing, w/ a scattering of light handling & assembly marks in wood, & some high edge wear on rib & bottom of action. Breech face shows evidence of very little firing w/ faint halo for bottom bbl. Grip checkering is still light in color. Forend is somewhat darkened. Good examples of these guns are getting hard to find, especially in "field" configuration. (20-915/MGM77). MODERN. $8,000-10,000.
