Cal. 44. S# 55016. Bbl. 8" round w/ German silver blade front sight. Markings on top flat of bbl. are partially obscured by intentionally added coarse file marks intended to reduce glare. Round rebated six shot cyl. w/ naval engagement scene roll engraving. Blue & case colored finish w/ silver finished brass trigger guard. Action has provisions for shoulder stock attachement. 1 Piece walnut grip. Butt of right panel has initials “CGEK”. Left panel has initials “J.H.”. Inspection mark “B” is found on left side of bbl. w/ “H” on front grip strap & “C” on back grip strap behind hammer. Bbl., frame, grip straps, cyl. & wedge have matching numbers. S# on trigger guard is partially obscured by intentional filing. Mfg. 1862 during the American Civil War. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: leather flap holster in fair condition. Leather has cracking & peeling finish. CONDITION: very good. Bbl., cyl. & loading lever have faded to gray showing handling marks & small spots of pitting. Right side of bbl. shows series of small dents in wedge area. Cyl. retains 75% scene. Frame has nicely visible colors on its sides. Trigger guard has cleaned appearance w/ no remaining silver. Cyl. does not rotate when action is cycled. Lightly pitted bore retains strong rifling. (01-22888/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
