Cal. 38 CF. S# 9710. Bbl. 7 1/2" round with New York address and German silver blade sight. Bottom of barrel has "R.W.M." and anchor New York Navy Yard conversion inspectors mark of Richard W. Meade. Manual ejector is mounted on right side of barrel. 6 Shot round cylinder with naval scene roll engraving. Back of cylinder has "C" inspectors mark. Case colored frame, left side has percussion era Colt's Patent marking followed by 2 line 1871 and 1872 conversion patent dates. The end of the top line is missing the period due to the broken die. External spring conversion loading gate is numbered 710. Silver finished trigger guard and backstrap. Frame, barrel, cylinder, cylinder arbor, and grip straps have matching numbers. 1 Piece walnut grips. CONDITION: barrel and ejector housing retain over 75% blue showing scratches and carry wear. Cylinder has dull fading blue with portions of scene obscured by pitting and light dents. Frame and hammer retain 70% nicely visible case colors. Grip straps retain traces of darkly tarnished silver in protected areas. Grips have dark worn appearance with handling marks, right panel is chipped at toe. Action is crisp and in time. Bore retains strong rifling showing small spots of pitting. (01-21596/DS). ANTIQUE. $4,000-6,000.
