REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Colt. S# 31893. Bbl. 7 1/2". 6 Shot fluted cyl. Bottom of bbl. has "P" & "JTC" inspector's mark referring to principal sub inspector John T. Cleveland. Bottom of frame by S# marked "LD", referring to sub inspector Lewis Draper, who assisted John Cleveland in the inspection of frames. Hammer slot has inspector's mark "C". Back of cyl. is marked "S". Side of cyl. is marked "P". Left side of frame lacks the "US" marking. Bbl., frame, grip straps & cyl. have matching numbers. 1 Piece walnut grips. Right panel have carved initials that may be "AN".UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt Factory letter stating the following: "Serial Number 31893/ Caliber .45/c/ Barrel Length: Not Listed/ Finish: Blue/ Type of Stocks: Not Listed/ Sold To United States Government/ Delivered To: U.S. Government Inspector/ Address: located at the Colt plant/ Date of Shipment: November 11, 1876/ Number of Same Type Guns in Shipment: 100". CONDITION: metal has cleaned gray appearance with scattered light marks. Most action screws are replacement. Grips are heavily worn with rounding & chips at butt & toe showing no original markings. Right panel has full length added wood repair along backstrap. Functioning action. Bore has dark appearance with intact rifling showing light pitting. (01-21706/DS). ANTIQUE. $5,000-8,000.
