PERCUSSION REVOLVER. Cal. 31. S# 320593. Bbl. 4". Model 1849 Pocket single action percussion revolver mfg. by Colt in 1870. Top flat of the octagonal bbl. retains faint traces of Colt's address. Left side of frame is marked "COLTS/ PATENT". Cyl. is roll engraved with Colt's stagecoach scene. Bbl. exhibits scattered patches of blue finish. Hammer exhibits a nitre blue finish, with the loading lever exhibiting a case colored finish. Silver plated brass trigger guard and rear grip strap with 1-piece plain wood grip. Brass bead front sight with hammer notched rear sight. All serialized parts are matching, to include the frame, trigger guard, rear grip strap, cyl., bbl., and the bbl. wedge. CONDITION: frame has faded to a mottled gray brown patina, exhibiting scattered spots of light pitting and age related discoloration. Bbl. retains some scattered spots and patches of bluing, with the balance having faded to a mottled gray / brown patina. Hammer retains good amounts of nitre bluing, exhibiting patches and areas of wear and thinning fading to gray and brown patinas, with some small spots of light surface oxidation. Loading lever retains good case coloring, exhibiting areas of thinning and fading, with some small spots of light surface oxidation. Trigger guard and rear grip strap retain the majority of their silver plated finish, exhibiting light to mild edge wear, with scattered spots of minor flaking. Bore exhibits scattered spots and patches of mild to moderate pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. (01-29660/MLW). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
