Cal. 38 CF. S# 3408. Bbl. 7 1/2" oct. w/ New York address. Fitted w/ ejector. Loading lever slot is plugged. Six shot rnd. cyl. w/ naval scene roll engraving. Conversion ring is fitted w/ loading gate having number "1994". Bbl., frame, grip straps & cyl. have matching numbers. Frame & grip straps are marked "1" below S#. Wedge is unmarked. Left side of frame has July 25, 1871 & July 2, 1872 patent dates. Brass backstrap. Full nickel finish. One piece walnut grips. Estimated total of 3,800 produced in the mid 1870's. CONDITION: bbl. & frame retain 25% nickel finish on left side w/ most of right side fading to gray showing scattered light pitting. 50% Visible cyl. scene. Brass backstrap retains 25% plated finish. Grips show heavy wear w/ handling marks & are undersized & rounded at butt. Sound mechanics. Front sight is lowered flush w/ bbl. flat, muzzle is rounded to keep from catching the leather as associated w/ frontier use. Lightly pitted bore w/ intact rifling.
