Cal. 10 Ga. S# 2007. The flagship of the Colt line in the late 1800s, these guns always exhibit superb workmanship & materials. This gun, the lowest grade offered, has 30" high grade Damascus bbls. Rib w/ doll's head extension is marked "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.". Case hardened boxlock action features automatic safety ("SAFE" relief engraved) & blued dbl. triggers. Action is engraved w/ geometric & dbl. line borders. Trigger plate is engraved "Patented" "Aug 22 Sep 10 1882". Blued trigger guard has serial number on tang. Rnd. knob pistol grip buttstock of very nicely marbled & figured European walnut measures 13 3/4" over rampant Colt embossed & checkered hard rubber buttplate. Point pattern checkering is at grip & a vacant silver oval is on toeline. Matching splinter forend w/ inlet ebony tip has Colt's adaptation of a Deeley release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .794", L .800". Restriction: R .026" (MOD), L .025" (MOD). Min. Wall Thickness: R .046", L .044". STOCK: DAH: 3 7/16". DAC: 1 7/16". LOP: 13 3/4". CAST: Neutral. WEIGHT: 9 lb. 12 oz. CONDITION: very fine. Bbls. retaining approx. 90% original factory finish w/ dramatic definition to pattern. Action retains 80-90% case hardening color, top lever & trigger guard about 20% of their blue. Stocks retain 85-90% of their original French polish w/ a considerable number of light scratches & marks, w/ one or two fairly deep. Checkering somewhat worn.
