COLT MODEL 1911 A1 SEMI-AUTO PISTOL.

Cal. 45 ACP. S# IRS 8546A . Bbl. 5" Colt Type 6 w/ "P" on left leg & "COLT 45 AUTO" above leg. Port area has 3 circled crown proofs above "NOT ENGLISH MAKE". Mfg. appears 1945 as all characteristics match the period; original S# removed w/ early gov't applied # (current applied numbers begin ATF w/ more digits). All pistol characteristics common for the period except hammer checkering is more abundant & finer as used on Remington Rands plus mag. latch retainer slightly proud & filed flat on top w/out slot or concave profile. "GHD" inspector mark stamped parallel to top corner of grip & "P" proof below mag. release rather than above. Correct lg. ring Coltwood grips & 7 ribbed arched mainspring housing. "P" proof on frame & slide done w/ different stamps. Correct style slide markings w/ S# 1126641 (1943 production, S# 857000 to 1609529) & marked "NOT ENGLISH MAKE" along w/ circled "BV" crown proof just above slide flat behind ejection port. MAGS: 1 Risdon 7 rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: fair US marked brown shoulder holster w/ replacement strap appearing to be field replacement along w/ restitching near bottom strap. Noticeable patina on front & top rear of holster. CONDITION: good appearance of slide w/ function & high point wear along w/ very light pitting on left side at muzzle. Fair frame w/ normal S# area refinished. Noticeable hand and function wear mixed w/ brown patina tone plus cleaned light pitting showing on dust cover & bottom of front strap. Noticeably better hammer finish. Good plus lightly hand worn grips (well worn screws). Appears replacement extractor proud at rear of slide. Worn bbl. exterior & good to very good bore w/ light wear.
