COLT MODEL 1911 SEMI-AUTO PISTOL.

Cal. 45 ACP. S# 14703. Bbl. 5" that appears to be Colt Type 2 but no visible letter on rear of hood & appropriately no other marks. Mfg. 1912 within Army contract of 3,750. Slide has circled rampant Colt at left rear, rounded U notch rear sight, semi circular front sight & "H" provisional mark at rear of appropriately unnumbered slide. Type A short beavertail hammer w/ bordered checkering as used to about S# 8900; subsequently Type B w/ longer tail. Slide stop & safety tab both checkered w/ undercuts. Long trigger w/ smooth face. "H" provisional mark by disconnector along w/ "R". Circled "WGP" frame proof. Finish is Colt's furnace blued "Fine Finish". Checkered double diamond walnut grips w/ 15 rows between diamonds. Spring plug w/ proper square detent. Spring guide w/ beveled front; legs are not sharp as tips removed but not blunt like later style. MAGS: 1 fair to good unmarked 2 tone 7 rd. w/ lanyard loop. Light oxidation on bottom of base. Upper in the white area has appearance of applied touch up blue. CONDITION: good plus appearance w/ typical function & high point wear plus typical scratch from improper slide stop installation. Small spot of oxidation on left edge of trigger guard. Gray patina tone to mainspring housing & front strap. Occasional light spots of faint peppery oxidation such as on left side of slide & grip safety. Very good left grip w/ light hand wear & very small diamond top mark at lower rear; right grip with more wear to include at butt plus "HSC" scratched into upper diamond. Finish loss on grip screws plus slot mark on top right. Fair to good worn bore w/ even cleaned pitting. (22-4309/NW). CURIO. $1,500-2,000.
