Cal. 45 ACP. S# 419923. Bbl. 4 1/2"; shortened & unmarked regular extending beyond slide w/ 2 small ports at top; normal Officer's Colt bbl. length is 3 1/2". 1918 Colt 1911 still retaining Eagle S12 poof (no other marks); S# relocated to bottom of dust cover. Hooked trigger guard w/ LWS (also at top rear of slide) on left side plus grooved hook. Original double diamond checkered walnut grips. Late production grooved slide lock & thumb safety. Military checkered arched mainspring housing w/out lanyard loop plus grip safety tang shortened to match frame profile (in the white at top). Hallmark DA conversion that received its impetus from P.38 design. Ludwig Seecamp saw advantages of DA autos while fighting for Germany on Eastern front in WW-II. He claimed his DA P.38 saved his life w/ its DA functioning. During 70's to early 80's he produced approx. 2,000 modified pistols after working as designer for Mossberg. Colt Commander slide has flattened top w/ grooves like Colt Gold Cup, serrated ramp front sight, simple adjustable rear sight having white below notch, loaded chamber indicator & decorative lightning flutes above cocking grooves. Regular hammer restyled w/ section added to maintain inertial energy having checkered top. MAGS: 1 good General Shaver 7 rd. blued military. CONDITION: blued bbl. has function wear on exterior as does front of slide. Very good grips w/ faint hand wear. Plum hue to slide; refinished except for small parts w/ very good to excellent appearance. Very good bore. (22-1998/NW). MODERN. $1,500-2,500.
