Cal. 45 ACP. S# 701579. Bbl. 5" blued National Match with drawing number and pistol serial number at port. Right leg has boxed "C"; left leg has "M" at front and "P" at rear. Correct "S" marked link. Frame manufactured 1924 and used by Springfield to build this National Match pistol in 1966-67. 3,125 or 3,625 manufactured and 500 or 580 sold through DCM. Per 1966 Camp Perry Army Weapons Command booklet all facets of the pistol are correct. Rear sight is correct Elliason model having “U.S.” on left side at base. Numerous proper proofs additionally having "T" by top front of right grip. Left side of frame has extremely faint original transitional "WTG" inspection mark. Front strap is checkered plus Type 2, arched mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Colt slide with slanted square cut cocking grooves and “NM” marking on left side; Colt markings on right. Feed ramp polished and barrel throated. Fully checkered walnut grips. MAGS: 2 near excellent 7 round with Singer appearing spine welds plus pistol serial # electro engraved on left sides. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: stiff corrugated cardboard box listing pistol by serial number and 7/68 date. Heavy box staples with oxidation and staining; both ends of box are open as sealing tape has been removed. CONDITION: very good plus appearance as refinished by Springfield during NM build. Numerous faint rub marks and very minimal spots of high point edge wear. Very slight function wear on trigger and grip safety. Near excellent bore and grips; thinning finish on screws. NM barrel bushing (electro numbered to pistol) appropriately tight fitted to barrel but with better than average fit to slide. (22-4391/NW). CURIO. $2,500-3,500.
