COLT US ARMY MODEL 1896 DA REVOLVER.
Cal. 38 Colt. S# 127930. Bbl. 6" with blade sight and 2 line Hartford address ending with March 5, 1895 patent date. 6 Shot fluted cylinder revolves counter clockwise. Blue finish. Butt is marked "U.S. / ARMY / MODEL / 1896 / No / 127 / 930". Cylinder latch, inside of frame and crane have matching "7930" markings. Left side of frame and back of cylinder have "RAC" sub inspector markings referring to Rinaldo A. Carr. Cylinder latch has inspectors mark "K". Bottom of barrel is marked "A / K". 2 Piece walnut grips. Left panel has 1889 date over "ITT" cartouche with "RAC" inspectors mark on butt. Right panel has "RAC" cartouche. Mfg. 1899. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt factory letter providing the following information "COLT NEW ARMY REVOLVER / Serial Number: 127930 / Caliber: .38/c / Barrel Length: 6" / Finish: Blue / Type of Stocks: Not Listed / Sold To: United States Government / Shipped to Lt. Col. Frank H. Phipps / Springfield Armory / Address: Springfield, Massachusetts / Date of Shipment: October 19, 1899 / Number of Same Type Guns in Shipment: 450". CONDITION: 70% dull blue blending with wear spots and freckling. Lightly sanded grips show small marks with dents at butt. Left panel has small crack along backstrap. Action is in time.
