Cal. 38 Colt. S# 208142. Historic revolver w/ family supplied history stating "carried by William Ganon, of the U.S. Army, in Texas during the Pancho Villa Mexican Revolution". The revolver & the accompanying photographs have remained in possession of the family & were obtained from his niece. Bbl. 6" w/ semi circular front sight. 6 Shot fluted cyl. Blue finish. 2 Piece walnut grips w/ lanyard loop at butt. Right side of frame has "RAC" & "LEB" inspectors marks. Butt of gun marked "US / ARMY MODEL / 1903 / NO / 208 /142". Right side of bbl. has 5 hand cut "kill" notches, 1 diagonal crossing 4 vertical. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: binder contains 22 photos of US Army soldiers, horses & camps taken during the Mexican Revolution time period. Many have hand written labels by William Gannon identifying individual soldiers & squads. Also includes 8 1/2" x 11" reprints of some of the photos. Also included is Vernon Williams documentary DVD titled "PATTON AND PANCHO A Clash of Cultures". Military Classic magazine dated 9/18/01 w/ an article titled "Chasing Villa". Holster is hand made of heavy leather w/ leather lacing. CONDITION: 75% original blue w/ areas of fading & carry wear w/ scattered sm. dents & handling marks. Grips show heavy wear w/ numerous dents at butt. Sound mechanics. Bright bore retains strong rifling. (21-350/DS). CURIO. $2,500-3,500.
