COMPLETE GERMAN MG34 & ACCESSORIES (PRE 86 DEALER

SAMPLE). Cal. 8mm. S# 1410C. Bbl. 24". The MG34 is one of the most recognizable of the German WWII era MG's. Designed by Mauser on order of the Waffenamt, it was manufactured in the early days where German tolerances & quality were front & center, over the later guns all nations involved would be forced to manufacture which placed the focus on quick & inexpensive. The MG34 can easily be described as functional artwork. 109 Different parts were manufactured from bar stock, obviously before the pressed & stamped manufacturing processes would eventually take over. Before WWII was over, almost 500,000 MG34's were produced by 5 different firms. The trigger mechanism of the MG34, though complicated in design, was extremely simple for the operator since no external selector was necessary to switch between semiautomatic & fully automatic fire. The elongated trigger could simply be depressed at the top for semiautomatic & squeezed at the bottom for full automatic fire. With an overall length of almost 48" & a sight radius of 21", neither accuracy nor the ability to lay down an enormous amount of lead would pose to be a problem. Front sight is a folding blade, rear sight is a graduated notch from 200 to 2000 meters. Visible Waffenamt markings in several locations. Heavily knurled cocking handle. Ventilated barrel shroud with AA sight base doubling as front sling swivel. Currently sporting brown leather sling, which mounts in the rearward position below the pistol grip. Integral folding bipod locks correctly in retracted position. Correct barrel booster locks into position with a spring loaded mechanism built into the front sight mount. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 12"x12"x48" wooden shipping / storage crate, Commercial Gurtfuller 34 - German MG34 belt filling machine used to load ammunition into non disintegrating metallic belts, 1 spare barrel, 1 spare barrel shroud, 1 spare barrel booster, 1 spare pistol grip & trigger mechanism, an MG42 canvas gunners kit, 5 non-disintegrating belt sections, 1 starter tab & 1 canvas action bag. CONDITION: finish on all external metal parts is a little nicer than par with the majority of these era guns. Coverage is complete with signs of handling and use as expected. Several of the parts are original German arsenal replacements, bearing several different numbers. Numerous Waffenamts and factory codes, in several locations. Red Bakelite stock presents as usual, devoid of any noticeable damage, simply a few scattered light impressions. Black grips are in very nice condition. The fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. Very good shiny bore w/ strong rifling in spare barrel. Primary barrel shows some wear while retaining strong rifling.
