CONFEDERATE LEECH & RIGDON REVOLVER MADE IN
GREENSBORO, GEORGIA. Cal. 36. S# 1174. 7.5” Round bbl. w/ oct. bbl. housing stamped “LEECH & RIGDON CSA” honest original, authentic, & matching revolver made in Greensboro, GA in 1863. Leech & Rigdon started business in Memphis, TN & after being chased by advancing Union forces, moved their operations to Columbus, MS., then Greensboro, Georgia & finally Augusta, GA under new ownership. All guns made in Georgia were under government contract. Matching SNs are found on bbl, loading arm, cylinder, frame, trigger guard, wedge, arbor, backstrap, & grips are numbered in backstrap channel. A cryptic mark "::" found on the front right web of trigger bow, cylinder lacking safety pins, hammer face not slotted, ball & pin loading arm latch, no cap release groove in recoil shield. These features are typical & consistent to these Georgia made Confederate revolvers. The "CSA" surcharge is consistent w/ this gun being part of Confederate Government order that ends in the 1500 serial range. There are two detailed ASAC articles telling the history of Leech & Rigdon revolvers by Ted Meredith & Kent Wall. Copies of these articles will be included. CONDITION: good-very good overall. Metal has gray iron patina overall, medium mustard patina to brass backstrap & trigger guard. Markings are all discernible as can be seen in photos. Mechanically functional w/ good rifled bore. (01-18459/JS). ANTIQUE. $20,000-25,000.
