Cal. 54. NSN. Bbl. 8 1/2". Palmetto Armory contracted Model 1842 pistols & were delivered to South Carolina by William Glaze in 1853 & most saw lots of action during the Civil War. Gun is original & authentic w/ letter of provenance from Dr. Fred Novy who is the authority & longtime researcher of Palmetto Armory arms. Markings are crisp & sharp. CONDITION: good to very good overall. Lock markings: "Palmetto Tree" surrounded by "PALMETTO ARMORY, S.C." are well struck & easily read as is "COLUMBIA S C. / 1852" on tail. Bbl. markings of "P / V” / “palmetto tree” proof & "WM. GLAZE & CO.” on bbl., tang dated “1853”. Iron is overall dark patina, lockplate cleaned & a lighter patina. Brass cleaned w/ light mustard patina. Stock is sound, solid & well fit w/ scattered sm. cosmetic defects, edges rounded but better than average. Mechanically fine w/ a smooth dark bore w/ pitting.
