SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. Cal. 38 Super. S# 28571. Bbl. 3 3/4" shortened Colt marked; normal Officer's Colt bbl. length is 3 1/2". CCA of Portland, OR was well known for its 1911 style frames in 1970's which was used for this build. Frontstrap & mainspring housing have milled section of vertical grooves. CCA crown on left by finger cut plus LWS in oval on triggerguard that was altered to hook shape w/ grooves on front of hook. Ludwig Seecamp saw advantages of DA autos while fighting for Germany on Eastern front in WW-II. He claimed his DA P.38 saved his life w/ its DA functioning. During 70's to early 80's he produced approx. 2,000 modified pistols after working as designer for Mossberg. Many innovative features incorporated into this pistol: frame has been shortened along w/ fully checkered walnut grips (CCA didn't make Officer's frames), beveled mag. well, solid grooved mainspring housing that eliminates grip safety, hooked trigger guard & hallmark DA conversion that received its impetus from P.38 design. Unmarked slide has flattened top w/ grooves like Colt Gold Cup, red insert front sight longitudinally dovetailed plus staked into slide, simple adjustable rear sight having white below notch, loaded chamber indicator & decorative lightning flutes above cocking grooves. Guide rod assembly has built in recoil buffer. Commander style hammer. Unusual caliber offering as most were made in popular 45 ACP. MAGS: 1 good Colt marked satin nickel 7 rd. CONDITION: bbl. has slightly stained appearance on exterior & sm. mark on left grip; all other aspects near excellent including bore. (22-2001/NW). MODERN. $1,500-2,500.
