MUSKET RECONVERTED FROM PERCUSSION. Cal. 80. NSN. Bbl. 42 1/4" has London proof marks at breech end. Tower marked lock has crowned "GR" & broad arrow in front of serpentine cock. Lockplate is slightly arched & rounded. Frizzen is bridled & feather spring has flame finial. Stock appears to be made of beech wood & features "hand rail" grip & comb & pronounced palm swell, extends to w/in 4 1/2" from muzzle & is pinned to bbl. Right side of comb is deeply branded "CUMBERLAND M" & "CLXVII" (Rack number or date ?). Brass furniture is typically Short Land pattern. Sling loops are present. CONDITION: good as restored. Bbl. w/ old cleaning has deep vice marks from attempted removal of breech plug, tang distorted. Touch hole w/ evidence of reconversion from drum & nipple. Lock reconverted using old parts & has pleasing appearance. Stock has glossy varnish finish over many black epoxy repairs mostly along bbl. & ramrod channels. Furniture shows cleaning & is nicely toned back. Old trumpet tipped ramrod is present. Pitted bore. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti. (01-19741/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,500.
