CUSTOM BM59 BY JAMES RIVER ARMORY WITH 3 MAGS.
Cal. 7.62 NATO. S# 1123. Bbl. 23" over muzzle device. Heavily resembling a crossover between the M-1 Garand & the M-14, the Italian BM59 is a creature all to itself. Bridging the gap between the 2 systems we have the receiver style of the M-1 Garand w/ the detachable mag. capabilities of the M-14 in the 7.62 NATO cartridge. Housed in a beautiful hardwood stock w/ matching bbl. shroud it enjoys a dark stain that still illustrates the original wood grain. It has an interesting muzzle brake, sometimes referred to as a Tri-comp, doubling as a grenade launcher, also including a folding grenade sight system. A rugged bipod providing over 11" of clearance, folds tightly under the forearm of the stock when not employed. The front sight is a protected blade style w/ a rear peep sight that is micro adj. for both windage & elevation. James River armory BM59 on their own receiver is often thought of as equivalent or higher quality to the surplus BM59s found on the market. Used heavily by the Italian army, the BM59 is often thought of as a worldly equivalent to our popular M14 rifle- they even have a similar look until close inspection occurs. This system utilizes a proprietary 20 rd. box mag. Right side charging handle. Folding winter trigger. Safety is located internally at front of trigger guard. Sling swivels front & rear currently hosting a green canvas sling. Several components marked “PB BM59”, including stock, bipod assembly, charging handling, etc. MAGS: 3-20 rd. metal mags. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: James River “Do Everything Manual”, black plastic foam lined hard case. CONDITION: James River does a fantastic job w/ their builds & restorations, this rifle is no exception. Stock finish is dark w/ a satin finish & markings on stock have been well preserved. Metal finish is similar to their original counter parts w/ complete coverage & only thinning in areas of mechanical intervention. The bipod locks tightly & snaps into place. Action is smooth. Bore is shiny w/ well pronounced rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. (21-770/JZ). MODERN. $600-1,000.
