STOCK WORK BY DARWIN HENSLEY, ENGRAVED BY THIERRY DUGUET, W/ SCOPE. Cal. 225 Win. S# 10190RT147. 26" Heavyweight rnd. bbl is drilled & tapped for scope blocks. Coin finished Browning 1885 "high wall" action is engraved w/ near full coverage background of superbly detailed gold & platinum flush inlaid acanthus scroll. On left side of action, foliage is in gold w/ stems & central whorls of platinum; this is reversed on right. Superimposed on this background are flush gold & platinum inlaid leaping fox on left & mule deer on right. This fine inlay is brought to life by superb bulino shading. Buttstock of exhibition quality finely marbled & stump figured European walnut measures 14" over unengraved blued steel buttplate. Stock features sm. shadowline right hand cheekpiece, which sits high onto comb, elongated side panels behind action flats, skeleton steel grip cap, & very well cut borderless point pattern checkering at grip. Matching forend has ebony tip. A Leupold Vari X-III 4.5-14x scope w/ duplex reticle is in Burris mounts & rings engraved to match action. CONDITION: exceptionally fine, close to "as new" w/ some light carrying wear on forend & a few scattered light handling marks in wood finish, most notably a small repaired scratch on left side near action. Bore is excellent. Scope is excellent w/ clear optics. PROVENANCE: From the Frederic W. Thrane Collection. (20-2451/MGM43). MODERN. $3,000-5,000.
