DESCRIPTION
4.25" x 6.125" Obverse shows studio mark of John B. Hoff, North Wayne Street Angola, Indiana. Marked on reverse in pencil "American Horse/Died in 1908" American Horse served as a US Army Scout, and during that time became son-in-law to famous Lakota Chief Red Cloud. As one of the prominent leaders of the Wagluhe band, he was known for promoting friendly relations with the United States. He attended many peace conferences in Washington D.C., and was a vocal opponent of the Ghost Dance movement. **Fair condition. Corner missing with some additional wear to edges. Emulsion in good condition.** $100-$300
