Cased British Proofed Smith & Wesson 1st Model Hand Ejector Triple Lock Double Action Revolver, #8913, .455 Mark II cal., 6.5" pinned barrel, blue finish, diamond center checkered walnut two-piece grips with S&W medallions, lanyard ring, half-moon blade front sight, and fixed "U"-notch rear sight, with color case hardened hammer and trigger. Factory markings are clear, with numerous English proofs and military acceptance marks, including "(Broad Arrow)" over "U4", and "E" at the left rear of the frame; "(Crossed Pennants)" on left barrel lug and back of the cylinder. Frame and yoke with matching assembly numbers (969). Barrel, cylinder, yoke lock and extractor are numbered to the gun. No visible number on the grips. Includes custom oak presentation case with a brass plaque on the lid. Interior is French fitted with dark blue velveteen interior, bullet block, and key. The brass plaque is inscribed to "Fred Sattler, D.V.M." in script. "HANCOCK LABORATORIES INCORPORATED / DECEMBER 1967-NOVEMBER 1978". Interior is in excellent condition. Included is a "Thank You" note from Hancock along with a copy of Dr. Sattler's eulogy. Mfg'd 1911. Revolver is in very good overall condition, retaining approx. 88% flaking factory blue, with numerous small nicks, scratches, and surface blemishes scattered throughout. There mild erosion and frosted patina on the sideplate and left rear of the frame. Hammer and trigger display muted color case hardened finish. Grips are in fine condition with sharp checkering detail, small marks, and few dings at the bottom edges. Action functions well and locks up securely. Bore is bright throughout with very good, defined rifling. Est.: $1,500-$2,500. (C&R/PPT)
