Cased Moore's Patent Front-Loading Cartridge Civil War Pocket Revolver, #18063, .32 teatfire cal., 6-shot, 3.25'' round steel barrel with integral blade front sight marked ''Moore's Pat. Fire Arms Co. Brooklyn N.Y.'' and with floral engraved flourishes at muzzle and lug. Plain cylinder engraved on rear circumference ''D. Williamson's Patent January 5, 1864''. Nicely floral engraved brass spur trigger frame. Originally blued steel and silver plated brass finishes, with dark varnished walnut grips. Daniel Moore and David Williamson's front-loading design was another, and successful, attempt to circumvent Rollin White's bored-thru cylinder patent then controlled by Smith & Wesson. Condition is very good showing approx. 50%-60% thinning original blue to barrel and cylinder; approx. 10%-15% original silver mostly on bottom frame; most grip varnish with losses at high points. Action is smooth but does not revolve cylinder; bore appears clean with good rifling. Period case of brass-bound rosewood veneer is very good, missing circular brass key escutcheon and one brass inlay at front of top; fitted semi-French style teal green velveteen interior is fine; two wooden compartment covers with brass knobs. Est.: $1,200-$1,800. (Antique)
