Cased Set of Target Modified Colt Model 1873 Single Action Army Revolvers, with Ivory Grips, Cased with one Extra Cylinder, both revolvers have 5.5" barrels, fitted with custom full-length top ribs having pinned front blade sights with brass beads, notched rear sights, fine 2/3-length matting, and 2-pc. checkered ivory grips with sunburst-like design at top. Both guns have the 2-line 1871-72-75 patent dates and "Rampant Colt" at lower left frame, fluted 6-shot round cylinders, and drilled hammers. Both guns also have added composite grip extensions attached via a screw into the bottom of the grip frame. (1) #355499 is marked "Colt Single Action Army .44 Special" at left side of barrel, loading gate is marked "178", with "A" on front face. Condition is near excellent retaining approx. 97% factory blue, with intermittent slight scratches and small handling marks to the barrel. Front gripstrap with one small spot of finish loss; portion of the backstrap that was checkered now lacks the original blue finish. Case colors have worn to approx. 70%-75% with most of the muting to the left side and to the loading gate. Factory lettering is crisp and clear. Grips show signs of moderate age and wear; left grip has a quarter-inch crack at left top; right grip with a repaired full-width crack at grip screw. Action is very crisp likely being tuned; near excellent bore is bright with clearly defined rifling. (2) #355821 reads "Colt Single Action Army .45", loading gate is marked "524", with a "(star)" on front face. Condition is near excellent retaining approx. 97% factory blue, with intermittent light handling marks. Case colors have worn to approx. 80%-85%. Right grip has an approx. quarter-inch long crack at the front edge, with mild age cracking to the butt. Action is very crisp likely being tuned, bore is brilliant showing sharp rifling. Both guns were mfg'd in 1937. Extra .44-40 cylinder is mint and unfired. Cased in a 14"x10.5" hard case paved with red-brown leatherette, having an "F.W.T." monogram in gold on lid, and lined in fitted green baize. Est.: $8,000-$14,000/Lot. (C&R)
