Cased Two-Barrel Savage Model 1899 Lever Action Takedown Rifle, #175323, .22-250 and .410 bore, both 22'' long; blue finish, checkered walnut stock and forend, with serrated steel Savage buttplate; receiver with Lyman tang sight. Mfg'd 1916. Condition is about fine as refinished. Rifle retains approx. 97%+ of a nicely accomplished inky blue immersion type finish, which shows very well. Buttplate and some small areas of rifle barrel with pitting underneath the finish. Stock appears original with moderate scuffs, scratches and pressure dings, although checking remains quite crisp. Action is good. Both rifle and shotgun bores are at least fine. Case is period correct and probably original to this two-barrel set. Handle has been replaced, and there are losses along the perimeter edge of lid. Purple-lined interior has toned in some areas and flattened from contact with rifle, but otherwise complete and intact. Est.: $1,000-$1,800. (C&R)
