Iberian Peninsula, Spanish Colonial Escopeta percussion rifle signed / inlaid Pedro G. 1854 in silver. Blued octagonal to round barrel, chiseled transition. Silver inlaid horizontal line to base and above silver scrolling inlaid between with the inscription reading "En Eibar, Por Pedro Guisasola, Ano 1854". Lock plate in bluing with engraved surfaces in scrolling. Walnut stock in brown. Engraving matching and blued to trigger guard. Blued and engraved side plate. Silver engraved wedding band to the barrel. Forward sight. Later ramrod. Size 49 1/2" L, barrel 33 3/4" L
Used in New Mexico and Texas during the Borderlands period 1500's - 1850s. Rare example of the last of the known Spanish made pieces from this region. Size 49 1/2" L, barrel 33 3/4" L. Condition: wear commensurate with age and use. Provenance: Ex-USA Collection, Ex-New Mexico Collection

When identical absentee bids are submitted the auctioneer will accept the first bid presented at his or her discretion. The highest bidder as determined by the auction house shall be responsible to pay for the hammer, buyer's premium and any applicable sales tax. Ownership of lots shall not be transitioned to the respective winning bidder until the auction house is satisfied with all funds being transferred and cleared to the auction house's account. All sales are final. Buyers have 10 days to arrange for removal of lots from the auction houses facility. After 10 days the auction house reserves the right to charge a $5 storage fee for each additional day until the lots have been removed. The auction house reserves the right to relist and sell any lots which have accrued a storage fee larger than the hammer plus buyer's premium total for a given lot. Shipping and safe delivery of the lots is the buyer's responsibility. The auction house reserves the right to update or remove any lot listed at the auction house's discretion.
