Civil War Colt Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver, with period leather holster, #150641, .36 cal., 7.5'' octagonal barrel, with brass post front sight marked with the one-line ''New-York U.S. America'' address; 6-shot round cylinder rolled with the standard naval battle scene; frame marked ''Colts/Patent'' on left front; brass gripstraps are marked ''36 Cal'' on left bolster of small rounded triggerguard; varnished one-piece walnut grips. Mfg'd 1863. Condition is very good, retaining no original finish to the steel surfaces but an overall gunmetal gray color with scattered discoloration and light erosion; brass gri straps show age patina with scattered nicks to butt and front of triggerguard. Grips are sound with nicking and small losses at toes and butt, and retain approx. 40% original varnish. Barrel address is clear, cylinder retains good traces of scene, visible serial numbers match including lever (could not remove wedge to check number). Action is smooth; bore is clean with light erosion and sharp rifling. Period holster also fits a Model 1860 Army, has ''HFH'' initials on back loop, shows age and surface cracking but is complete with intact stitching. Accompanying verbal history states that this gun belonged to German immigrant and Civil War soldier Dedick Holsten, who later settled in Redlands, CA. Est.: $750-$1,250. (Antique)
