Civil War Era German Potsdam Single Shot Percussion Infantry Musket, altered from Flintlock, #66204, .60 cal., 35" round barrel, with pointed-blade front and folding-leaf rear sights is marked "66204" and "E" at breech; flat lock has nipple bolster with cleanout screw, marked "66204", three "(crown)/I" and two illegible marks at breech flats; iron fittings include trigger guard with sling loop at front, buttplate, three spring-retained bands (proof marked, middle with sling loop), slotted/dished ramrod; fullstock of oil-stained walnut has brass serpentine sideplate, elongated shield-shaped brass wrist reinforcement. Mfg'd ca. 1820s with bright finish, converted ca. 1840s. Condition is good, the steel surfaces generally being smooth gunmetal gray-brown with sharp edges and clear markings, sideplate with dark age patina. Stock is sound and generally smooth, with repaired horizontal break at wrist having brass reinforcement. Action is crisp, smoothbore appears bright. Est.: $600-$900. (Antique)
