Civil War Era Small Bowie Knife, by Lamson & Goodnow, named to Civil War General, with black composition handle, fancy silver ferrule, and small nickel silver guard. The 5.5'' blade is marked with an oval maker's mark for Lamson & Goodnow Mfg. Co. in Massachusetts; reverse side of blade is engraved in block letters: ''To P.V. HAGNER, LT. COL. ORDN. Oct., 1863''. Blade shows age graying, light sharpening, and scattered erosion. Overall length is 9.5''. No sheath. Includes research information about Brigadier General Peter. V. Hagner, who was the Commander of the Watervliet Arsenal from 1863 to 1880. Est.: $500-$800.
