Civil War Massachusetts Arms-Adams Patent Double Action Percussion Revolver, #3151, .31 cal., 3.25" octagonal barrel marked on topstrap "Made for Adams Revolving Arms Co. N.Y./by Mass. Arms Co. Chicopee Falls/Patent May 3, 1853. June 3, 1856. Apr 7, 1857.", has side-hinged loading lever and central sliding cylinder arbor with right-side turn-key; plain round 5-shot cylinder numbered "3151"; solid frame matching-numbered at left side, has right-side sliding cylinder safety, separate trigger guard, integral flat-bottom gripstraps with checkered 1-pc. walnut grips, oval buttplate. Mfg'd ca. 1857-61, in only 4,500 qty. Condition is near excellent, retaining 96% deep barrel, frame, hammer, trigger and buttplate blue, 85% cylinder blue with a 1/8" spot of erosion at front, 35% thinning trigger guard blue. Grips have sharp checkering with a half-inch compression line at left. Action is smooth, bore shines with full blue inside. A gem. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (Antique)
