Civil War Moore No. 1 "Crab Claw" Single-Shot Derringer, #6523, .41 RF cal., 2.5" teardrop-shape barrel marked "Moore's Pat. F.A. Co. Brooklyn, N.Y." on top flat, swivels to left for loading and extraction; brass frame has loose scroll engraving, sliding barrel release button at right, integral spurtrigger sheath and "bird's head" gripstraps, 2-pc. plain ivory grips. Mfg'd ca. 1860-65. Condition is good retaining most of a later barrel re-silver (markings and engraving a bit soft), toned brass. Grips may be from another gun, as they are not a precise fit. Barrel hinge and lockup are tight, action is crisp, bore shows moderate erosion and very good rifling. Est.: $700-$900. (Antique)
