Civil War National Arms Co. Iron Frame Single Shot Spurtrigger Derringer, #8158, .41 RF cal., 2.5'' steel barrel marked ''National Arms Co. Brooklyn, N.Y.'' on top, twists to left for cartridge loading/ejection; scarce iron frame; twp-piece checkered walnut ''bird's head'' grips. Floral hand engraving appears on both sides and top of frame, backstrap and barrel at breech and muzzle. Likely originally made in full blued finish. Condition is very good retaining no original finish, but smooth metal with clear engraving and markings (one spot of erosion at left muzzle that does not affect markings); no patent date appears on barrel underside. Grips show sharp checkering and retain most of their original varnish (small chip out of right grip at frame juncture). Action is smooth and crisp; barrel hinge is solid; bore appears clean with visible rifling. This Iron Frame model is quite scarce and desirable. Est.: $600-$800. (Antique)
