Civil War Spencer Repeating Carbine, #51431, .52 cal., 22'' barrel, blue and case hardened finish, walnut stock and forend. This particular model was mfg'd from 1863-1865. One of the most widely used and popular firearms of the Civil War, putting Union troops armed with this weapon at a distinct advantage. Condition is very good to near fine. Exterior surface of barrel has toned an even plum color, and case hardened frame a silvery gray. Stock with light scuffs, scratches and oil darkening. Fissure emanating from apex of saddlering bar appears stable. Rear sling swivel has been removed and neatly plugged. Action is crisp, bore is fine. Est.: $2,500-$3,500. (Antique)
