Civil War U.S. Springfield Model 1861 Percussion Rifle-Musket, NVSN, .58 cal., 40'' barrel with integral block-blade front sight (doubles as bayonet lug) and two-leaf adjustable rear sight; beveled lockplate is marked ''(spread eagle)'' to left of ''U.S./Springfield'' beneath nipple bolster and ''1862'' vertically behind high-arch hammer; steel furniture including three spring-retained barrel bands (middle with sling swivel), two-piece triggerguard with sling swivel, buttplate marked ''US'' on top tang, nosecap, tulip-head ramrod; one-piece oil-finished walnut fullstock. Condition is good to very good, the barrel cleaned to gunmetal gray with breech markings obscured by black-powder pitting, all other markings clear and metal with an aged patina. Stock is solid with the expected marks of military use and the number ''82'' stenciled on left side in red paint. Action is smooth and tight; bore is mostly bright with sharp rifling.
