Civil War Triplett & Scott Swivel-Breech Repeating Cartridge Carbine, #3614, .50 RF cal., 22" round barrel marked "Kentucky" at left has carbine sights, auto-extraction, swivels to right to align with cartridge in the 7-shot buttstock magazine; left-side hinged loading gate blocks mag. when bore re-aligns with hammer/standing breech; receiver marked "Meriden Man'fg. Co./Meriden, Conn." at left, "3614" right, "Triplett & Scott/Patent Dec. 6, 1864" top tang, has central hammer, mag. projecting at lower-left, separate trigger guard/tang. Oil-finished forearm held by a single spring-retained band, matching buttstock has carbine buttplate and sling loops at top and belly. Mfg'd ca. 1864-65. Condition is very good retaining approx. 75% thinning barrel and breech blue, case colors mostly silvered-out and with scattered discoloration. Stocks are sound showing occasional dings, a secure 3" crack where stock meets mag, and another from receiver to end of top tang. Edges and markings are sharp, barrel hinge is tight but doesn't always lock up. Top sling loop is missing. Action is crisp, bore shows mid-point erosion, good rifling. Rare in this 22" barrel length.
