Civil War Era U.S. Model 1860 Enlisted Cavalry Sword, with scabbard. The 35'' blade has one narrow and one wide fuller, with no visible markings at the ricasso. The three-branch guard is brass as is the pommel. There is a number ''97'' stamped into the top of the pommel. The grooved wood grip is covered with leather and has a single twisted brass wire wrapping. Scabbard is steel with no visible markings. OAL is 42''. Condition is fair with the blade having a dark rust patina and pitting overall with some bright spots on the high edges. Guard is bent on the bottom back edge and the branches mis-shapened. Guard and pommel have a nice dark uncleaned patina. Leather covering of the grip has shrunk and has some losses near the top. The twisted wire wrapping is all intact and tight. Scabbard has a dark pitted rust patina overall and a few minor dents. Est.: $300-$600.
