37& #34; double edged rapier blade with central rib for added strength. Cup hilt pierced and embossed with heroic figures and mythical heads in reserves. Piercings of lozenge form extending down from the roped rim. The detail of the embossing is good. Long swelling quillions are ensuite with the steel knucklebow. Spirally fluted wood grip appears to be the original missing its wire wrap but retaining a fine copper “Turk’s Head”, Onion shaped pommel chiseled with mythical heads closely resembling the heads on the embossed cup. Condition is very good overall with the exception of the missing grip wire. This is a very handsome decorated cup hilt rapier.
