From the collection of the Dr. Thomas Marquis noted early Custer battlefield historian author and researcher. These artifacts acquired by Marquis while living among the Cheyenne Indians at Lame Deer Montana in the 1920s. John Fox noted Montana collector acquired this collection from the Marquis family descendants who in turn sold it to his life long friend James Aplan. A binder full of photos and documentation is included. Many 1920's photographs of dig sites on battlefield and most every item is cataloged and numbered. Original and copies of Marquis articles and pamphlets also in the binder. Relic Springfield rifle, Colt S.A , Remington 1858 ( Commercial- Private Purchase) Canteen with tag in binder found 1879 by M.P Martin on Custer battlefield. Numerous cartridges cases and bullets as described in binder. This collection was Jim Aplan's favorite and he knew of the group a half century before it acquisition. Jim Aplan considered this collection at the top of Custer relics.
