capping groove, S/N 209352. The butt is original to the period inscribed in script “George C. Johnstun. Traces of original blue and case hardening within a light brown to gray patina. Good address and patent markings. Faint traces of cylinder scene with some good case colors showing on the hammer and loading lever. All matching visible serial numbers and the loading lever is not numbered which is proper on late 1851’s. The grips are good to very good with some varnish and small losses along with marks on the butt. There are some scratches and dings on the right rear of the trigger guard where the 0.36 caliber marking is mostly visible. Super tight and crisp action. Generally very good overall from an old Palm Springs collection where many pieces obtained from early pioneer California settlers descendants. (Antique) Est.; $1500-$3000
