*Colt 1855 Side Hammer .28 Cal SN: 14561
'2nd Model Root' Early single action percussion revolver chambered in .28 caliber, circa 1856. Features a high polish blued finish, 3.5" octagonal barrel with pointing hand two line address, loading lever, brass cone front sight, 'v' notched rear sight, five-shot roll stamped cylinder with 'Cabin & Indian' scene, smooth spur trigger, case hardened hammer with checkered spur, and one piece figured walnut grips. Revolver appears to be all original with matching serial numbers on butt, cylinder and barrel. Overall approximately 75% of the bright blued finish is retained with scattered losses & wear with the remained turned to a brown patina. Case colors are vivid on the hammer and visible in trace amounts on the loading lever. The brass cone front sight is slightly flattened on it's northeast face. Markings are crisp with a 90% visible cylinder scene. Action performs well, bore is excellent and wood grips are fine. Condition is excellent. ***Antique Firearm***
