Martially marked & inspected single action percussion revolver issued to the Union Army during the American Civil War, manufactured circa 1863. Features an 8" round barrel, German silver blade front sight, 'v' notch rear sight cut into the hammer lip, smooth thin trigger, knurled hammer spur, non-fluted six shot cylinder with roll stamped Naval Engagement scene, loading lever, round brass trigger guard, steel backstrap, shoulder stock cuts in the recoil shield & butt and one-piece oil finished smooth walnut grip with boxed cartouches (illegible). All observed serial numbers match including the barrel, cylinder, frame, trigger guard and backstrap. Inspector marks include: Barrel - "D" & "D". Cylinder - "D" & "D". Trigger guard - "H". & Backstrap - "H". The barrel address has been removed and the barrel wedge has been installed with an additional metal shim. Revolver displays a mottled aged grey/brown patina with approximately 20% cylinder scene intact. Revolver is mostly functional though the cylider has the ability to spin counterclockwise when the hammer is down.The bore shows strong rifling & scattered light rust, the remaining marking are good and the walnut grip is fair to good with blemishes & repaired crack on the left side.
