Colt 1862 Navy Pocket Pistol .36 Cal
SN: 11382 Rare "Pocket Model of Navy Caliber", aka Model 1862, 5-shot .36 Cal, with 6.5" octagonal barrel with "Address Col. Saml Colt New York U S America" Just traces of the stage coach scene remain on the barrel. Matching serial numbers on the frame, barrel, cylinder, triggerguard, and backstrap. "Colts Patent" on left frame, ".36 Cal" & "N" on left triggerguard. Markings are faint, but readable. Blued finish has turned a gray/brown patina, there are some small dents mid barrel as if held in a vise at some point. There is some rust/pitting around the muzzle, and lever. The barrel wedge, and screw are damaged. Cylinder indexes, but sticks sometimes. Bore has strong rifling but some scattered areas of pitting. Grip is very good with slight shrinkage. Barrel is a little loose, and the loading lever is slightly bent. Colt lists this gun as "Model 1862 Pocket Pistol of Navy Caliber (.36)", and manufactured in 1862 (Civil War) although some collectors dispute the years of manufacture for this revolver. I would think Colt would know. Condition in NRA Good *Antique Firearm*
