Colt Model 1877 Lightning Storekeeper's Model Double Action Revolver, without ejector, #92424, .38 Colt CF cal., 2.5'' round barrel marked ''Colt's Pt. F.A. Mfg. Co. / Hartford, CT. U.S.A.'' in two lines on top, and ''Colt. D.A. 38'' on left side, 6-shot fluted cylinder, frame marked with three-line 1871-74-75 patent dates to the left of an encircled ''Rampant Colt'' logo, originally fully nickel plated with case hardened hammer and blued trigger, two-piece finely checkered black hard rubber ''bird's head'' grips having the ''Rampant Colt'' logo in an oval relief panel at top. Mfg'd 1893. Condition is very good retaining approx. 90% original nickel, thinning at muzzle sides, the initials ''TD'' scratched into right frame side, and light pitting that should clean at underside of triggerguard. Trigger with 50% original fire blue; darkened case hardening on hammer. Grips show light wear and clear details, fit perfectly and are without chips or cracks; loading gate is correctly batch marked ''1'', screw slots are mostly unblemished. Action is butter-smooth in both single- and double action, bore is clean with defined rifling. These ejectorless Lightnings employed their cylinder pin for removing spent cartridges. A nice Storekeeper's Model that is quite desirable with this factory-short 2.5'' barrel. Est.: $600-$800. (Antique)
