SN: 42795 Vintage U.S. military large frame double action service revolver chambered in .45 Colt, manufactured circa 1911. The model 1909 was an interim solution to the shortage of sidearms created by the trials for the 1911. All but 350 of the 19,503 contracted revolvers were sent to the Manila Ordnance Depot in the Philippine Islands. Features a blued refinish, 5 1/2" barrel, blade front sight, "u" notched rear sight, smooth trigger, knurled hammer spur, fluted swing out six-shot cylinder, non-shrouded ejector rod, large square butt frame with case hardened lanyard loop, and two-piece smooth walnut grips. Serial numbers match on the frame, crane and cylinder latch. Military marks: Barrel - "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", "P" & "R.A.C." Frame - "R.A.C." & "F.B." Grip Panels - "R.A.C." and Cylinder - "R.A.C.". Revolver retains approximately 90% of it's thinned blued refinish showing light even wear. Action is crisp with solid lock-up, the bore is excellent, markings are mostly good with partial marking on the butt, and the wood grips are fair with chips to the toe of both panels. Condition is near NRA Very Good as refinished. ***C&R Firearm***
