Colt 1911 U.S. Army .45 ACP SN: 448295
'Black Army' WWI era production US Military semiautomatic pistol manufactured circa 1918. The black finish was a time & cost savings measure that resulted in a less durable black finish, different than the earlier deep blue finish. This pistol is in the serial number range, and has the eagle inspector stamp that is correct for a black finish gun, however this pistol appears re-blued. Features double diamond checkered walnut grips, 5" barrel, fixed sights, single action trigger, grip safety, wide hammer with knurled spur, manual safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard ring. Bore is very good condition. Barrel link pin loose, will fall out when pistol is disassembled. Retains 50% finish, showing brown color in many places where scuffed or scratched, thinning or turning brown on grip straps, bare metal on edges, light pitting throughout, many pits observed under current finish. Grips are fair condition, serviceable, with smoothing of checkering, some erosion. Markings include: "MODEL OF 1911 US ARMY" on right side of slide, two line Colt patent & address lines on left side (Rampant Colt in middle). "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" & "S17 (under eagle's head)" on left side of frame. "H" on rear of slide above firing pin retainer. "Q" stamp on barrel feet. Markings are generally even and deep. Includes (1) good condition two tone magazine. Condition is NRA Good+ (early reblue) *** C&R Firearm ***
