WWI era production US Military semiautomatic pistol manufactured circa 1918. Serial number in the range indicating delivery to the US Navy yard in Brooklyn NY. Features blued finish, double diamond checkered walnut grips, 5" barrel, fixed sights, single action trigger, grip safety, wide hammer with knurled spur, manual safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard ring. Bore is very good condition. Metal surfaces show a slightly mottled thin brownish gray color (possible cold touch-up blue), with up to 10% darker color in recesses, smooth dark patina on grip straps, some bare metal on edges. Front part of slide right side shows area of shallow pits and some scraping. Controls and small parts (and barrel) appear darker and may be later replacements. Grips are good condition, with smoothing of checkering, some erosion in several places. Markings include: "MODEL OF 1911 US ARMY" on right side of slide, two line Colt patent & address lines on left side (Rampant Colt at rear of slide on left). "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" & "JMG (in circle)" on left side of frame. "H" on rear of slide above firing pin retainer, "8" on slide under firing pin retainer plate. "COLT 45 Auto" on barrel under chamber, "P" on feet. Markings are generally even and deep. Includes (1) good condition two tone magazine.
