Gunsite tuned WWII era U.S. military contract single action semi-automatic service pistol chambered in .45 Auto, manufactured circa 1942. Features a matte black finish, 5" barrel, dovetailed blade front sight, dovetailed Novak LoMount rear sight, serrated trigger with overtravel adjustment, skeletonized hammer with serrated spur, extended thumb safety on the left side of the frame, upswept grip safety with memory bump, push button magazine release, Gunsite branded 8 round magazine, knurled arched mainspring housing with lanyard ring, and two-piece ivory grips. Markings: Slide - "PATENTED APR.20,1897. SEPT.9,1902/DEC.19,1905. FEB.14,1911. AUG.19,1913”, [rampant colt], “COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.," "P," "772/709," &"G". Frame - "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", "No772709", "M1911A1 U.S.ARMY", "W.B" inside a rectangle, "P", "R", "VP" inside a triangle and "25". Barrel - "-COLT 45 AUTO-", "P", and "M". Right Grip Panel – carved goose scene in a circle with “THE WILD GEESE” and “4501”. Includes a hand tooled brown leather holster rig by Jim Lockwood with knife carrier, two spare magazine carriers and sterling silver buckle & keeper marked "Conrad S. Anderson Prescott, AZ". Mr. Lockwood was a Prescott, Arizona leathersmith and this was his personal gun and rig. Pistol retains approximately 85% of its custom black finish showing holster wear, finish loss on the grip straps and some surface rust on the rear half of the gun. Action is sound with a crisp trigger pull, the bore is excellent and the ivory grips are good with a large crack in the left panel. Condition is NRA Good as refinished. ***C&R Firearm***
