Colt 1st Gen. Model 1873 Single Action Army Revolver, #234601, .44-40 CF cal., 4.75'' round barrel with right-side ejector has maker's two-line name and address on top, ''Colt Frontier Six Shooter'' at left; fluted 6-shot round cylinder is unmarked; solid frame has two-line 1871-72 patent dates and encircled ''Rampant Colt'' logo at left, long topstrap sighting groove, central hammer and right-side loading gate batch-marked ''821'', two-piece steel gripstraps, and black two-piece checkered hard rubber grips with Rampant Colt in an oval panel at top. Mfg'd ca. 1902 with blued barrel, ejector, cylinder and straps, case hardened frame and hammer. Factory letter confirms all features, shipped to Simmons Hardware Co., St. Louis, MO, Oct. 28, 1902, 15 guns in shipment. Condition is excellent retaining approx. 95% original dark Colt blue (light muzzle wear from holster), softly mottled case colors beginning to silver-out, and unmarred screws. Unmarked grips show just the lightest wear and sharp designs. Visible serial numbers match and edges and markings are sharp. Action is smooth and crisp; bore shines showing scattered light etching and fine rifling. Est.: $4,000-$6,000. (C&R/PPT)
