American made 'Series 70' semi-automatic single-action pistol chambered for .45 Automatic Colt Pistol, manufactured circa 1978 in Hartford, CT. This 1911 is a highly customized example of a Colt Government pistol. Pistol features a blued refinish with polished flats and matte contours, flared and lowered ejection port, rear slide cocking serrations, no firing pin block safety, a 5" barrel, checkered front strap, checkered Ed Brown Wedge mainspring housing, full-length two-piece guide rod, hollow recoil spring plug, fixed serrated blade front sight, dovetailed square notched rear sight, solid smooth curved adjustable trigger, squared and checkered front trigger guard, serrated push-button magazine release, serrated ambidextrous Swenson frame mounted manual safety, checkered slide stop, bobbed hammer with a serrated spur, extended beaver tail grip safety with a checkered memory bump, accepts seven and eight round magazines, flared magazine well, magazine funnel, and checkered two-piece hardwood grips with gold-toned Colt medallions on both sides and a thumb groove on the left panel. The slide is marked "COLT'S GOVERNMENT MODEL" on the right side of the slide. The left side of the slide is marked "COLT'S MKIV/SERIES '70, GOVERNMENT MODEL, .45 AUTOMATIC CALIBER." A single line Colt address is marked on the right side of frame. The blued refinish retained is approximately 97% with a little edge wear, muzzle wear, minor handling blemishes, and some marks on the top of the slide from ejected cases. Some of the blued parts are taking on a plum color. Metal display no rust, or deformation. The grip safety has some discoloring on the bottom. The action is smooth and crisp, and the bore is bright with strong rifling (but dirty). The grip wood is in poor condition with a crack on the right grip panel, and a vertically oriented medallion. No magazine included.
Condition is NRA Good - As Modified.
