Colt Model 1901 U.S. Military issue .38 L.C. caliber revolver, S/N 198316. Inspected by Rinaldo A. Carr and John T. Thomson showing their initials along with 1903 date. 80%-90% commercial quality high polish originalfactory finish remains with minor aging and even loss at holstering and hand contact areas. Well marked. The grips have been period changed to birdseye maple retaining Colt escutcheon and fire blue screw. Thesegrips are expertly made and beautifully fit upgrading the plain wood military style possibly for the officer who carried the piece on custom order. The action is tight an d the bore is bright.
